Facts & Figures - Youth Programs

Youth Programs

Each quarter the WDCSC newsletter will bring you a variety of facts and figures showing the impact Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funds, and the WorkSource Snohomish County system, is having on the lives of Snohomish County residents.  Enrollment numbers for the WorkSource Snohomish County youth programs are detailed below.  For more information about the following youth programs, visit our web site by clicking here.

During the first quarter of the program year (July 1, 2007 - September 30, 2007), Snohomish County WIA youth programs have served 133 youth.

Step Up Program

Lakewood, Arlington, & Stanwood-Camano School Districts

  • 38 Students returned to school and resumed program participation
    • 12 of these students earned an incentive for positive work evaluations and/or earned academic credit
    • 11 students achieved a work readiness goal
  • 5 students have graduated from the program
    • 2 of these students entered post-secondary training
    • 1 of these students entered advanced training
    • 1 returned to school
    • 1 exited because of health reasons

Project STAR (Supporting Teens at Risk)

Everett School District

  • 38 youth received service
    • 8 students earned high school credits
    • 15 students are on time to receive their diploma
     

Project REACH

Community Trades and Careers

  • Of 27 youth are enrolled in Project REACH
    • 26 of these youth have succeeded in Job Skills and Life Readiness Workshops
    • 7 of these youth have completed their academic goals
    • 16 of these youth are actively pursuing their academic goals
  •  
  • Since July 2007, an average 12 youth have graduated from Project REACH
    • 2 of these youth are now attending community college
    • 11 of these youth are currently working on or have successfully completed employment and academic goals

Student Adventures in Learning (SAIL) Program

Edmonds School District

  • 24 youth were enrolled and actively attended the summer program
    • 16 of these youth were enrolled in subsidized Work Experience (WEX) placements, working a total of more than 1,600 hours
    • 8 of these youth obtained employment in unsubsidized jobs
  • SAIL is currently serving 30 students in the 2007-2008 school year
    • 26 of these students returned to the SAIL program for the 2007-2008 school year
    • 4 of these students are new enrollments
    • 100% of the students have remained in school during the first quarter and are making satisfactory progress toward earning annual graduation requirements.

AmeriCorps Program Participation

Snohomish County AmeriCorps Program

A Program of Workforce Development Council Snohomish County

  • 523 youth have participated in leadership and development activities
  • 16 AmeriCorps Program Members have been trained in life skills and skills to enhance their service.
  • 124 volunteers have dedicated 303 hours of service to the community
